I began my creative journey in the advertising business. Initially, I was a graphic designer, moved up to art director, and then started my own business as a design consultant and fashion photographer.
My passion is now sculpture. I work with wood, metal, fabric, and acrylics. Through sculpting, I can express my thoughts and creative ideas in a 3 dimensional form.
My journey continues…
Why have we not learned from history? Why have we continued to commit the same atrocities against humanity? Why do we still see genocide, antisemitism, racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and the pollution of truth? I do not have the answer to WHY, but I do hope my sculpture will serve as a wakeup call.
Primo Levi, the renowned scientist and holocaust survivor, when asked WHY the holocaust occurred, responded by saying, “there is no WHY.”
I was inspired by a show on National Geographic, that showed some exotic sea creatures I had no idea exisited. I then began creating my own unknown creatures purely from imagination.
The official title for this collection is, Street Games I Played in Brooklyn. These pieces were inspired by the various games I played on the streets when I was young.
This collection is a little bit of a jab at the fashion industry. I was a fashion photographer for most of my life, and I enjoyed putting a little sarcasm into these pieces.
Sometimes I have no subject when I’m creating. The pieces in this series just flowed out of me without looking for deeper meaning.
The pieces in this collection are a little departure from my other metal-based pieces. These are light hearted, humorous and yes, wood based.
